In recognition of Oral Cancer Awareness Month, the Milwaukee VA is offering free oral cancer screenings for Veterans and employees 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, in Building 111, Matousek Auditorium, 5000 W. National Ave.
Screenings will be conducted by Milwaukee VA dental staff. The exam is painless and takes only a few minutes.
In addition, VA dietary, nutrition, Whole Health, tobacco cessation and Health Promotion & Disease Prevention experts will be available to provide counseling as it relates to dental health.
The National Institutes of Health estimates more than 58,000 new cases of oral cancer will be diagnosed this year.
It is important to find oral cancer as early as possible when it can be treated more successfully.
