About us
The Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet is dedicated to fostering and promoting the state's rich heritage as well as continuing Kentucky's long history of being a premiere travel destination for all travelers to enjoy. The Cabinet serves as Kentucky's top tourism agency, and collaborates with local tourism partners to coordinate tourism, arts and heritage efforts through legislation, tourism development, and marketing/outreach. Kentucky tourism is an $11.8 billion industry that brings millions of visitors to the Commonwealth each year. As one of the state's largest economic generators, tourism serves as a mechanism for driving economic growth in communities within all 120 Kentucky counties. During the Team Kentucky Update yesterday, Governor Andy Beshear announced that 19 Trail Town communities across the commonwealth have been awarded over $540,000 in grant funding. This funding will help these communities improve and enhance their outdoor recreation areas, attracting more visitors and providing safe and enjoyable outdoor spaces. *New KY Home Upgrade Alert* Kenlake State Resort Park’s campground is undergoing $9.3 million in renovations! The project includes 63 full-service campsites, six camper cabins with lake views, a new 2,000-square-foot bathhouse, pull-through sites, sewer connections, new electrical and water lines, more handicap-accessible sites and two additional restroom facilities near the lake. This project demonstrates Team Kentucky’s strong commitment to improving facilities across Kentucky State Parks campgrounds. The campground will be closed for the 2025 season, and work is estimated to be completed by spring 2026. Cheers to upgraded camping experiences!

Tourism and local officials recently gathered at Camp Nelson National Monument to celebrate the Brigadier General Charles Young Memorial Historical Corridor. Governor Andy Beshear designated the 100-mile route from Camp Nelson in Jessamine County to the Kentucky and Ohio border at Mayslick, with support through SJR 58. Born to enslaved parents, Charles Young became one of the first Black graduates of the United States Military Academy at West Point and had a distinguished military career. This corridor is a tribute to Young and his incredible legacy.

Carter Caves State Resort Park's campground is getting exciting New Kentucky Home upgrades! The $3.8 million renovation includes the construction of a new campground store and bathhouse, additional sewer sites and updated electric and water lines throughout the campground. This project underscores Governor Andy Beshear's strong commitment to improving facilities across Kentucky State Parks campgrounds, providing visitors with modern amenities to fit today’s needs.
