Major news! Ford Motor Company’s EV future is starting in Louisville. Ford just announced its next-generation electric vehicle, and it’s being built right here in our city. A nearly $2B investment will retool the Louisville Assembly Plant to produce a new EV platform. That means 2,000 good-paying jobs right here in Louisville. Congratulations to Jim Farley, whose bold leadership and strategic vision have made Louisville the launchpad for Ford’s next-generation electric vehicle platform. Thank you for investing in our city. This is Ford’s “Model T moment” - a bold move to make electric vehicles more affordable, efficient, and American-made. Starting around $30K, this new line will produce a mid-size pickup truck designed and built in the U.S.. Louisville is at the center of Ford’s push to compete globally and reduce reliance on imports. Sponsor Spotlight: Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development As the primary state agency encouraging job creation, retention and business investment in Kentucky, the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development works to attract new industries and assists existing companies to grow and expand in the commonwealth. After securing the best four-year period for economic growth in state history, the Cabinet is committed to building on this recent historical success and continuing to build a stronger future for our New Kentucky Home. Last year, the commonwealth announced roughly $6.9 billion in investments across private-sector new-location and expansion projects, creating 9,400 quality, full-time job opportunities for Kentuckians. Over the previous four years, the commonwealth has now announced more than 1,100 private-sector new-location and expansion projects totaling over $35 billion in announced investments, creating more than 59,800 jobs. The Cabinet is committed to build on this continued historic economic momentum through the recently announced New Kentucky Home, a strategic, comprehensive marketing initiative that serves as a reintroduction of Kentucky to the world, showcasing the state’s vibrant economy, natural beauty, cultural richness and welcoming communities. The Cabinet also provides support and resources for entrepreneurs, startups and small business owners through the KY Innovation office. The team at KY Innovation is committed to connecting the businesses that make up the commonwealth’s vibrant innovation ecosystem to the services, capital and collaborations they need to start, scale and thrive. Through the use of regional Innovation Hubs, which serve as the hands-on catalysts for the entrepreneurial growth happening throughout the commonwealth, local partnerships, which include higher education institutions, established corporations, angel and venture capital funds and economic development groups, are leveraged to assist entrepreneurs across all industries and stages of development. A critical role of the Cabinet is to also prepare communities for future economic development opportunities. One of the most important factors in the state’s recent growth and sustained economic momentum has been the continued investment in site development initiatives. Last year, the commonwealth continued its aggressive approach to the growing speed-to-market demand. Nearly 30 counties were approved for site and development upgrades through the state’s Kentucky Product Development Initiative (KPDI) and Build-Ready program, which are overseen by the Cabinet. These programs lay the groundwork for future economic success and job creation throughout the commonwealth. Their goal is to make it easy to invest and create jobs in Kentucky. The will exceed your expectations and show you why there’s no better place to work, play and live than in our New Kentucky Home. Thank you KCED for your continued partnership and support of KAED.
