Focus groups are being formed to talk about how community members and first responders work together. Your input will help:
✅ Spot challenges in emergency response
✅ Identify what communities need
✅ Find ways to make services better
✅ Share your thoughts on how AI tools could support emergency services

County, FCPS Launch School Bus Arm Camera Program to Boost Safety

Drivers who pass school buses loading and unloading children will soon receive $250 citations in the mail as a partnership between the county and Fairfax County Public Schools designed to improve the safety of students launches this spring.

The joint effort includes debuting 50 bus camera systems to identify drivers not adhering to the “stop arm” signals used by bus drivers to alert those on the road to the presence of students getting on or off of buses.

TIMELINE
🛑 Now until April 8: 30-day notice period, providing drivers with time to familiarize themselves with the regulations.
🛑 April 9-May 11: warning citations begin (no fines).
🛑 May 12: violators will be subject to a fine of $250 sent by mail.

Support our local shelters and nonprofits by donating new and sealed packages of tampons, pads, liners and menstrual cups at drop-off locations throughout the county. Donate through Monday, March 31.

Virginia Health Officials Investigating Potential Measles Exposures in Northern Virginia on March 5, 2025

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) was notified of a confirmed case of measles at Washington Dulles International Airport on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. The confirmed case was an individual who was returning from international travel. Health officials are coordinating an effort to identify people who might have been exposed, including contacting personally exposed passengers on specific flights.

Wednesday, March 5, between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Potential exposure sites at Dulles International Airport:
- Terminal A
- Transportation to main terminal
- Baggage claim area

Here's what you can do with any leaves left on your property:

🏡 MULCH: Mulch leaves into your lawn with a lawnmower. Use a mulching blade to chop the leaves into fine particles. To prevent patches of dead grass in the spring, make sure the leaves are evenly distributed and not densely piled in one spot.
