Missouri Disabled Sportsmen will be hosting a series of mobility impaired and or youth hunter waterfowl hunts in partnership with DuckHorn Lodge during the 2025/2026 season.

The chosen hunters for each day will be provided with experienced mentors, decoys, and assistance in the field. Hunter selection will be finalized after the registration period has closed. The selected hunters will be notified of their inclusion, and the non-selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list.

Chosen hunters will be responsible for their own travel to DuckHorn Lodge and any applicable hunting license(s) and stamp.

Keep an eye out for book pages posted along Runge's Naturescape trail and enjoy a story as you walk and explore. No registration required. All ages

After finding painted rocks around Jefferson City, especially on the trails at Runge, Janet Bonnot decided to join the JC Rocks fun in 2018. Runge is pleased to present a variety of Janet's nature-inspired creations in the west wing through December 2025. No registration required. All ages

Discover what’s for dinner at Burr Oak Woods as the nature center’s amphibians, fish, and turtles enjoy their feast every Tuesday and Friday. The snakes are fed on the second and fourth Wednesday (December 10 & 24).

There will be a live Eagle show and a self-guided driving tour on the refuge.

Upon registration, participants will be given a link to the virtual/online portion of the prescribed burn course. The online course is a mandatory prerequisite. Please bring your certificate of completion to the demonstration burn. Weather permitting, we will be conducting a prescribed burn so please dress accordingly with leather boots (non-steel toe), leather gloves, cotton pants, cotton long sleeve shirt, and safety glasses. Participants will learn about burn equipment, burn line installation, safe weather parameters, ignition operations, and other techniques to safely conduct a prescribed burn. Please bring a sack lunch with you.

During December Missouri sees one of the largest migrations along the Mississippi flyway as millions of waterfowl make their way south for the winter. Missouri is one of the most important stops for waterfowl. Join us for a small discovery table to learn about some of the waterfowl that passes through the state along with where to view them.

Enrich your life by nature immersion! Warm up with some complimentary coffee or tea indoors and enjoy the relaxing sights and sounds of our winter bird visitors. Then, weather permitting, join the Naturalist on an optional birding hike out on the trail.
