  • Our Health and Human Services Department, including the child welfare team, joined our Board of Supervisors and many partners this morning in planting blue pinwheels at Mahany Park in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Thank you to KidsFirst, First 5 Placer, Placer County Probation Department, Placer County MDIC and Children's Advocacy Center, Placer County District Attorney's Office, Placer County Sheriff's Office and many others who work tirelessly every day to help our county's most vulnerable youth. This Friday is #WearBlueDay2025, and we invite you to wear blue in support! Find a calendar of other activities, including our Child and Family Resource Fair, here: https://lnkd.in/gzhN7QEQ

  • Placer County recognizes the critical need for affordable housing in North Lake Tahoe and we're working hard to address this housing shortfall. This week, our board approved new funding to spur the development of workforce housing through the creation of the Launchpad program! The program will begin with $1,000,000 in transient occupancy tax funding from the general fund and TOT reserves for interested applicants in exchange for deed-restricting new housing units for the local workforce. The program will offer three categories of funding based on the type of units being created:  1. New townhomes, condos and multi-family dwellings would be eligible for $200,000 per unit;  2. Accessory dwelling units could receive $125,000; 3. Single-room occupancy, similar to dormitories, could receive $50,000 per unit Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gRC7rM8d

  • The Placer County Sheriff’s Office operates a comprehensive network of facilities, services, and programs dedicated to ensuring justice and maintaining public safety across the county. This was a key takeaway for county leaders during their extensive tour of PCSO’s operations, which began at the Auburn Justice Center, included a visit to the South Placer County Jail in Roseville, and concluded at the county morgue.

  • Spring is here! It’s an exciting time to enjoy Placer’s beauty on conserved land from our conservation program. The PCCP balances growth with nature, protecting thousands of acres of natural open space and vital habitats. Check out our video on recent acquisitions in west Placer.

  • Congrats to the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce for their new Digital Tools Initiative and partnership with Greater Sacramento TPM Manufacturing. The chamber recently received a substantial investment as part of the We Prosper Together initiative to address workforce shortages in precision manufacturing, explore digital tools to enhance workforce accessibility and better align training with industry needs. A key focus is supporting the region’s veteran community. See more here: https://lnkd.in/g_G3jqQN
