Visit the Martha Washington Library, Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library, Sherwood Regional Library and Kings Park Library this weekend for book sales. Shop a wide variety of gently used books and media for all ages.

Figs and Nature Outdoors
Thursday-Sunday, noon-5 p.m.
Enjoy a self guided walking tour and peak at the fig trees at the National Botanical Garden in Chantilly. Pack a picnic, sit under a shady tree and enjoy the lakeside view.

Free Dog Fridays (noon-7 p.m.)
Throughout the summer, all dog adoptions will be fee waived every Friday at the Animal Shelter. View available dogs and get more details on our adoption process.

Garden Talk - Fall Bounty Vegetable Garden (10:30-11:30 a.m.)
Plant a fall vegetable garden to extend the gardening season. Extension master gardeners will show you how to grow cool-season vegetables like carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and brussels sprouts during cool weather.

Artful Birdfeeders (10-11 a.m.)
Make a birdfeeder with United Artisans Inc local artists at Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Annandale. Bring a half gallon paper carton and use paint, ribbons, woodland objects, colorful paper and more to create your own design.

George Washington Patriot Run (7:15 a.m.)
Race in person or virtually for the annual 10-mile Patriot Run race at Mount Vernon. Participants receive a t-shirt and finisher medal. You can register for race or spectator tickets.

Putting the Animals to Bed (7:30-8:30 p.m.)
When evening shadows spread over Kidwell Farm at Frying Pan Farm Park, it's time to put the animals to bed. Bring your flashlight or lantern for this twilight tour and learn how our farm animals settle down for the night.
